House Update: 21 May 2011

I'm finally getting the energy to work on the house a little here and there.  With the nice weather, my husband has been able to continue working on the outside and that is a blessing.  We have lived in it since November only having the outside wrapped...no siding.  I promise we are not trashy...just ran out of time and energy to get EVERYTHING done before we moved in :)  hahaha When you are remodeling yourself you sure come to realize all of the little details that go into making a house complete.

This weekend, in the middle or working on laundry, I tackled our laundry room/mud room.  I've mentioned before I had great plans for this room.  I wanted a custom entry bench with storage build right inside the back door and I wanted plenty of storage in this room as well.  Almost 7 months after moving in, the funds and priority of this room were low!  I took matters in my own hands and decided to do a little decorating with things I had on hand :)  Seems that it doesn't matter after all that I didn't have $ tackle this room...already we are so happy with the updates and how much more functional the space has become!

The cabinet still needs painted and knobs added.  The decor is just collected from around the house.  It will do for now :)

This is my 'custom' entry bench :) ha
Regardless, it looks better than what was previously stacked here!

This is the mess still behind the door!  I'm hoping for a cabinet (WITH DOORS) to store the cleaning supplies, rags, etc.  It will also help to hide the furnace and hot water heater!

Did you tackle any projects this weekend??

A Full Weekend

We started off our Saturday morning with some yummy cinnamon rolls :)

My Mom was out of town this year but we were able to spend Mother's Day with Nathan's family.

On Sunday evening we hijacked some friends getaway plans and ran off for a night away with them.  It was great just to get away and enjoy some fresh air!

Everything was so green.  It's not often I take time to enjoy my surroundings because I get preoccupied with life.  It's nice to have that excuse every once in awhile...

...and a root beer float from Sonic topped off my day :)
